I am a medical student and needed to purchase a penlight. I purchased this particular one greatly underestimating how bright it actually is. Thus, I would have to say it probably isn't the best for shining in a patient's eyes....way too bright for that. However, if you want a real good flashlight that is carry-convenient, look no further.
