What is Sulfation?
Sulfation occurs when sulfuric acid or electrolyte breaks down, causing lead sulfur crystals to coat the lead plates inside the acid battery. There is no connection between AMP Hours and Cold Cranking Amps (CCA). As a general rule of thumb:
Batteries 600 CCA or less: 1 AMP Hour equals 6 to 7 CCA
Batteries 601 CCA or more: 1 AMP Hour equals 5 CCA
